Children & Youth
About Our Programs and Children in Church
Are you interested in having your children receive a comprehensive, enriching, and worth-while Christian education? Have them join the ever-growing Nursery, Sunday School, and Youth Group programs at Woodlawn United under the supervision of our Youth Coordinator, Maggie Healy. We encourage the children to ask the BIG questions, gain a deeper understanding, develop a love for God and Jesus, and have some fun while doing so! Our curriculum is designed to be accessible and inclusive for all ages and abilities.
Nursery and Pray-Ground
Downstairs in the Brick Hall is a fully stocked nursery, equipped with a change table, rocking chairs, toys, and a speaker so parents are still able to listen to the service upstairs. There is also a “Pray-Ground” upstairs in the sanctuary, located on the far left side, for parents with babies and young toddlers who would still like to be present in the service. It is undergoing remodelling, but sometime in the near future it will be ready, with rocking chairs, quiet toys, and room to crawl around in an enclosed space! Please note that both the nursery and Pray-Ground are unsupervised. Woodlawn United is a breastfeeding-friendly space.
Sunday School
Our Sunday School program is for children ages 4 - 9, and takes place every Sunday from September to June (following the public school year). Take a seat in the sanctuary and take part in the service until after Chancel Chit Chat with one of our ministers, Reverend Kevin Little and Reverend Bethe Benjamin Cameron, when the children will make their way downstairs with Maggie to explore the Bible through the mind of a child and nurture their relationships with God, Jesus, and each other. Children ages 10 and up are encouraged to join us downstairs, and indeed many do! All of our activities are accessible to all ages, no matter how young or old.
Youth Group
Our Youth Group program is for tweens and teens ages 10 and up, and takes place every other Tuesday from September to June (following the public school year; reach out to Maggie for exact dates), as well as every Sunday morning alongside our Sunday School program. Join us Tuesdays from 6:30pm to 8:30pm in rooms A and B (Sams Room, upstairs) as we dive deeper into the life and work of Jesus Christ, as well as exploring many wider topics as chosen by our Youth. We encourage them to pick the topics that really interest them!
