| Our Mission:
Kindling, Strengthening and Renewing the Spiritual Life in Jesus Christ
Worship
Woodlawn embraces diversity in our worship ministry. We recognize that people have different preferences for worship, so we offer a variety of services both traditional and contemporary. Worship leadership involves people of all ages, inviting their talents and participation. Our particular value for ministry with youth is clearly demonstrated in worship through their regular participation and in services designed by and for youth.
Community
Building a firm foundation through positive activities, Woodlawn members and adherents get to know each other and build a shared sense of community that embodies mutual respect, happiness, healing, connectedness and safety. New ideas for ministry programs and projects are invited and people are empowered to share their ideas and inspirations and turn them into action. Through this Woodlawn demonstrates the relevance of its ministry and community for the lives of people.
Pastoral Care
Woodlawn pastoral charge cares for all. We keep in touch with people through a variety of ways, know them as individuals (not simply part of a group), and pay attention to their specific needs. People have easy access to our caring ministries through a simple and effective referral system. Our building is accessible to people with special needs. We communicate easily and well with each other.
Teaching and Learning
Woodlawn offers academic, activity based and social programs for learning. Adult programs are effective. Youth programs are relevant to young peoples' daily lives; facilitated with passion, expertise and positive energy; supported whole-heartedly by the congregation, and valued by parents. The church provides facilities for education programs that are attractive and well equipped.
Social Outreach and Evangelism
Woodlawn shares the gospel with people through its outreach ministries and through teaching people within the pastoral charge how best to welcome and shepherd people into the life of our church. We are especially aware of our need to learn how to invite and include youth and young families into our church community. In our outreach ministries we strive to balance our gifts of money and time. Peoples' ideas for ministry projects are invited and move quickly to action. Realizing that we can achieve more if we work with others, we seek to build relationships with other churches and organizations that share our desire to spread compassion and do justice. |
